American technology giant Intel has appointed Dr. Omar Ishrak, a Bangladeshi American director at the company, as their new Chairman of the Board. The sixty-four-year-old has been serving as the CEO of Medtronic, a medical technology company headquartered in the US. He grew up in Bangladesh, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of London, King’s College. Dr. Omar is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Asia Society, a leading educational organisation dedicated to “promoting mutual understanding and strengthening partnerships among peoples, leaders and institutions of Asia and the United States in a global context”.
